Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS)

Objectives SSML ‘Verbum’  is a Higher Education Institution located in Cagliari, Italy, which offers a first cycle degree course in Translation and Interpreting. Our goal is to implement a wide net of intercultural exchanges with Institutions and economical partners from abroad, in order to comply with the European requirements for internationalization and to improve our students’ and staff’s education and work skills.

Priorities Considering the guidelines of the Bologna Declaration, Lisbon Declaration and Erasmus+ programme, we aim at contributing to mold a cohesive European Union, either in the field of education or in the field of employment and economic growth. We are setting the following priorities:

  • increase in student and staff exchange;
  • striving to balance the international student and teachers exchange from abroad in relation to the national one;
  • quality improvement of the services offered to foreign students;
  • merge of the foreign student exchange with the vocational training;
  • cooperation with the companies;
  • establishing broader and broader cooperation with foreign schools of higher education;
  • creation of clear administrative procedures for the improvement of the student exchange standards in the framework of Erasmu+ Programme;
  • promoting an awareness of the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity, as well as of the need to fight against racism, prejudice and xenophobia;
  • popularising the principles of the Erasmus+ Programme through our internet website.

Impact on the process of modernization The insertion of the mobility activities inside the Erasmus+ Programme foresees the attainment of the following objectives:

  • creation of a network of linking Universities and companies, aimed at increasing the opportunities in a wide range of fields and levels of study;
  • development of the general mobility for students, teachers and administrative staff;
  • coordination and organisation of international projects of teaching and research, Intensive Programmes, new curricula (study programmes and European Forms), thematic networks;
  • promotion of transversal programmes based on new methods of teaching foreign languages and of the development of new tools for interpreting and translation in an ICT field;
  • increasing the number of higher education graduates. 

All these achievements will contribute to the implementation of the priorities of the Modernisation Agenda;

  • to improve the quality and relevance of teaching and researcher training, to equip graduates with the knowledge and core transferable competences they need to succeed in high-skill occupations;
  • to provide more opportunities for students to gain additional skills through study or training abroad, and to encourage cross-border co-operation to boost higher education performance;
  • to strengthen the “knowledge triangle”, linking education, research and business and
  • to create effective governance and funding mechanisms in support of excellence.
